It is true that many people have such a profound lucid dream experience that it changes their entire perspective on life.

The experience can range from a small recognition of the situation that never really materializes into anything, into life changing events that have you wondering what that magical brain of yours is really capable of.

There are four major steps to work on in order to successfully and intentionally experience a lucid dream. It’s important to understand that even these steps might not make it happen but with more and more practice comes a better chance at success.

Step 1: Get Your Mind Set

You need to set a solid foundation mentally before you even begin to try having lucid dreams. This is important because as you dream lucidly, you will interact with your own belief systems and morals. You’ll need to identify your belief systems so that you intimately understand them well enough to use them to your advantage. A part of this step is to make sure that you know what you want to do when you become lucid.

Step 2: Dream Recalling

An important preparation step in lucid dreaming is learning the ability to accurately and clearly recall your dreams. This must be done because it trains your brain to become present while it works to put together the stories throughout your dreams. A couple of ways to help increase your memory of dreams is to stay motionless with your eyes close for the first couple of minutes after waking so you can focus, and to simply let your mind drift with its first thoughts.

Step 3: Create a Dream Journal

Using a dream journal simply helps to support the other aspects of getting ready to involve yourself in a lucid dream. Record what you remember, your goals, your accomplishments, and your frustrations. This is a tool that keeps on giving.

Step 4: Familiarize Yourself With Your Dreams

As you use your journal more and more, you will start to see patterns and other tell tale signs of your dreams that will let you understand them better. This will allow you to take a look at dream destinations, themes, and signals of both happiness and sadness. It will also allow you to better recall your dreams and let yourself remain in control during a lucid dream.

Once you have these steps down you will find that it is a lot easier to practice lucid dreaming and understanding your dreams in general. This is important if you are looking for a deeper understanding of yourself and the way that you interpret the world around you. If you’re interested, learn a few astral projection tips.
